Hello, Ultimate Blog Party 2008!
Posted by Breeze on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 7:22 pmCategory: Breeze
I’m Breeze, or at least I’m calling myself that to hide my top-secret identity. I stole it from daughter’s first favorite book, Sleepy Me by Marnie McGee. I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Party for the first time this year, and I hope I win the I make milk. What’s your super power t shirt from The Crunchy Domestic Goddess, a tutu from Live-Love-Dance Boutique for my little ballerina, or a Klean kanteen sippy from Non-Toxic Tots, or anything, really. I mostly write about crafts I do with my kids, so help yourself to the instructions for making Egg Heads with yours. Tulip and I made them up last week, and I’m very proud of them. We also enjoy tea parties with scones, and we’d love to share.
I call my 3 -year-old daughter Tulip. She’s a loving, rambunctious girl with the most amazing belly laugh in town. I generally type one-handed thanks to my happy nearly-one-year-old Smiley Face who likes to sleep in my lap in the evenings. I enjoy being a SAHM, but I’m still glad I’m sharing that responsibility with Mr. Breeze, who works from home so that he can have mid-day visits from his favorite people. He takes care of all of my tech stuff, which I appreciate a great deal because I am probably the least tech-talented blogger out there who actually has her own site.
In my pre-Tulip days, I taught 10th and 11th grade English, but thanks to disuse and mommy-brain, I’m no longer the grammar super-star I once was. In other areas, I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I get stressed out when things aren’t going just as I planned, but I’m working hard not to let that make life hard on my family. Some days I have more success than others. I’m a liberal, aspiring crunchy, crafty woman of 30. I love my nuclear family, my pack of siblings, my friends, my knitting, snuggly naps, sitting under the shady tree in my back yard, and a good craft project with my daughter.
I’ve started three or four blogs, but I’ve never stuck with it before this one, but I’ve been at it since November, and I’m still going strong. My problem has historically been that I don’t have much going on in my life other than taking care of my family, and for some reason it never occurred to me that it might be fun and satisfying to write about how I do that. Instead I’ve tried to focus on the tiny stretches of time that are only for me, so the blog withers and dies from lack of material. Then I discovered mommy-themed blogs and realized that perhaps my thoughts were worthy of a reasonable readership, at least one larger than my sisters and husband, all of whom would humor me even if I was dull as dirt.
It had also never occurred to me that other people would enjoy reading about my escapades as a SAHM, but I have plenty of fun, so it would practically be a disservice to the world if I didn’t share. Right? Well, that’s what I’ll tell myself as I delude myself into thinking that you are all dying to know what I’m doing, thinking, laughing at, feeding my kids, trying to accomplish and obsessing over. I need yet another hobby, so here I am!

Hi Breeze! Nice to meet you! I love that compost photo. I would love to start a compost pile, but haven’t as of yet. We live on a very tiny piece of land and I am not sure where to put it.

i also have perfectionist tendencies, though i have had to let some things slide after having 2 kids.

I taught 8th grade for several years before our second one arrived. Teaching at home is a whole different experience, huh?
Come visit if you can!
